When you are at the airport, look out for our new information station in the baggage claim area. The station links you to information about the airport, accommodation, transport, events, attractions and much more. You can print information and maps, or use the attached phones to make accommodation bookings or queries right on the spot!
We also have two airport customer assistance phones which connect you to our staff for personal assistance - one phone is at the Information station in the baggage claim area (level 0) and a second phone is located on level 1 just past the check in area. Our staff are available to answer all of your questions on lost property, baggage storage, directions, parking and transport. You can also seek assistance from our friendly Wellington Airport Ambassadors – they are always keen to help!

Q. Where do I check in for my flight?
A. All major airline check in areas are located in on level 1 for both domestic and international services. For a map of the airport, click here.
Q. Where do I check-in for Soundsair/Air West Coast/Air2There?
A. All check-in procedures for these three airlines are carried out at the gate - Soundsair and Air West Coast - Gate 4 and Air2there - Gate 5.
Q. Where do I check-in for Air Chathams?
A. Air New Zealand handle check-in for Air Chathams.
Q. Where is the International Terminal?
A. At Wellington Airport all international and domestic flights arrive/depart from the one terminal.
Q. I am flying Internationally - what am I able to take on the plane?
A. New security measures for all international flights leaving New Zealand were introduced on March 31 2007. The Ministry of Transport has set up a website to provide information and answer questions about the new regulations. For more information, click here www.flysmart.govt.nz
Q. Can I take duty free onto the plane?
A. You are still able to purchase all liquids and gels once you have cleared security, (including all items in duty free) and take them onto the plane. The only exception to this is passengers who are transiting or transferring through a secondary location. Please check with your retailers before you buy. Q. How do I pay for parking?
A. Pre-Booked Online Car Parking:
If you have pre-booked your car park online, then the credit card that you used to do this will have already been debited the car park fee. To enter and exit your car park of choice, you will simply need to swipe your nominated credit card at the entry and exit barriers.
A. Drive-Up Car Parking:
Before you exit the short term (Premium, Terminal, Heart) or long term car parks you can pay at any of the Auto Pay Stations located throughout the car parks, or alternatively, at either of the staffed Parking Service Kiosks. The only place to pay by EFTPOS is at the Parking Service Kiosks (located in the short term or long term car parks).
Q. Where can I catch a taxis or shuttle, and how much will it cost?
A. Taxis and shuttles operate from Level 0 outside the Main Terminal Building. For more information and price guides click here.
Q. Is there a bus from the airport into the city?
A. The Airport Flyer bus departs from the southern end of the terminal on level 0 (exit from baggage claim doors on level 0 and turn right). Monday to Friday it departs every 15 minutesbetween 6.30am and 9.30pm.
. It operates on a reduced timetable on weekends and public holidays.
Q. Is there a motorcyle parking area?
A. Yes there is a motorcycle carparking area which is found within the short term car park. Enter the short term carpark, go straight ahead and the motorcycle parking area is just past the ramp to level 1 on your right.
Q. Is there a bike rack at the airport?
A. Yes there is a bike rack at the airport which is found outside level 0 entrance, on the island between the taxi and arrivals pick up lane.

Q. Are there cash machines at the airport?
A. We have a number of ATM Machines in the terminal: ANZ and National Bank ATM machines are located in the area between check in and the foodhall, a National Bank ATM Machine is located near Fuel in the South West Pier, Kiwi Bank ATM machines are located opposite international departures Level 1 and on level 0 and a Westpac ATM machine is located in South West Pier - gate 10
Q. Where do I pay my departure fee?
A. Travelex Money Exchange on level 1 of the main terminal building.
Q. How much is the departure fee?
A. For passengers 12 and over $25, children 2yrs to 11yrs - $10 and infants under 2yrs - no charge. You only pay departure fee at Wellington Airport for international travel directly out of Wellington Airport. If the international departure on your journey is from a different airport, you pay departure tax from that airport.
Q. Where can I change money at Wellington Airport?
A. Foreign exchange services are provided by Travelex.
Q. Can I store my bags at the Wellington Airport?

Q. Is there a parents room at Wellington Airport?
A. Yes there is. Wellington Airport has a parents room located on level one next to Silvermoon.
Q. Are there wheelchairs available?

Q. Where are the lifts at the airport?
A. There are lifts between all floors. Please follow the signs once inside the terminal, or to view the terminal maps click here.
Q. Where do I post mail?
A. Stamps and packing can be purchased from NZ Post or Whitcoulls, both on level 1. A mail box is located on level 1 of the main terminal building at the top of the escalator near the front doors.
Q. Do you have photocopying/fax facilities?
A. Photocopying and faxing services are available at the Wellington Airport Conference Centre on Level 2 of the Main Terminal Building.
Q. Do you have a courier service in the terminal?
A. A courier service is provided by NZ Post, opposite International Departures on level 1.
Q. Can I hire a roaming phone at the airport?
A. No, you will need to make arrangements for a roaming phone prior to arrival at the airport.
Q. Where can I claim back GST?
A. You can not claim back GST in New Zealand. For customs assistance please call (04) 388 1143.
Q. Can I stay overnight at the Airport?
A. Wellington Airport does not operate 24hrs. The terminal building is closed for two and a half hours each night between 1.30am - 4am.
Q. How do I transport my pet?

Q. Is there a florist at the airport?
A. No there is not a florist, but you can buy bunches of flowers from both Whitcoulls and Essity stores on level 1

Q. Is there a first aid room? What do I do if I need medical assistance?
A. Wellington Airport has a first aid room that is available on request. The airport has qualified medics on site 24 hours. Please ask any staff member for assistance if required, or phone (04) 385 5124.
